The Bishop's Room

Reserve Now

We dedicate this room to the bed that has occupied the room for more than 60 years. The Bishop's bed was purchased from Fred and Lucille Mantell in the early sixties and came from Chicago. It belonged to the Bishop of Chicago in the mid to late 1800s. The Mantells were very active at St. Peter's in Cripple Creek, and before they came to Cripple Creek they were very involved with the church in their home of Chicago, where they acquired the bed. They sold it to Wayne and Dorothy Mackin because they felt it should be seen by the Imperial guests. It is made of black American walnut. The bed has been restored and refitted for deluxe queen sleeping.
